Comments from past Crane Peace Academy participants
Second-year high school student
There are still children who are affected by the Vietnam War from 50 years ago, and seeing how each of them has their own dreams and is working hard to achieve them, I began to think that I wanted to do my own thing to reduce the number of children in the future who have to give up their dreams for family or financial reasons.
6th grade elementary school
Meeting Japanese people living in Cambodia made me realize how much they love Cambodia from the bottom of their hearts. I also realized that love is necessary to create a peaceful world. To that end, I think it's important for countries around the world to focus on education that fosters morality and empathy, and for citizens and politicians alike to interact more with people from other countries.
Third-year high school student
I was able to think deeply about war and peace, including justice from various angles.
Also, it was good to learn about the history and lifestyle of a socialist country that is different from our own.
First year high school student
Thinking about things through your own eyes and experiencing them firsthand resonates with you ten times more than studying in a classroom, and it deepens your thoughts. I want to continue learning about the world in depth and breadth. The most important prerequisite for this is to accumulate knowledge, so I will of course study seriously, but I also want to read a lot of books.
Second year of junior high school
I realized that while money is necessary to live, you can't judge everything by money alone. I realized that whether you live a poor or wealthy life, you can carve out your own happiness. I also think it was a great opportunity to reexamine my own life and not take the life we are living now for granted.
